Setup

 

dbell app setup can be done in two ways:

  • Wireless setup

  • Network setup

 

Wireless setup

1. Power-up dbell:

  • Power-up dbell using supplied power adapter or
  • Using supplied USB to DC power cable. Connect the USB end of the power cable to your smartphone charger and DC end to the dbell.
  • After you power-up the dbell, it will take approximately a minute for the dbell to be ready for setup. Please wait for the “Welcome” sound to continue.
  • If your dbell has been connected to power for longer than 1 minute, you won’t hear any sound.
  • Please note: dbell adapter should be used as it is. DC power cable, can’t be extended because of the voltage drop, dbell won’t work if you extend the adapter cable.

Before launching app:

Whichever Network/Wifi your phone is connected to, that is the network your dbell will be sync at setup.

Make sure dbell and your phone/tablet is connected to same 2.4G Wifi Network. dbell is not compatible with 5G Network.

If you have an extender in your home/office, and wish to connect dbell to the extender, make sure that your phone is connected to your extender for setup.

3. Launch dbell app

For successful Wireless app setup please follow few simple steps:

  • Make sure your smartphone or Tablet is connected to your Wifi Network
  • Smartphone/tablet is close to dbell
  • Phone is Not in Silent mode. For iPhone ring/silent toggle on the top of the left edge of the phone is flipped to ring (red dot not visible)
  • Do not make/receive call using same phone while doing setup
  • Turn Off Bluetooth and disconnect any hearing aids, headset, Earbuds & In-Ear Headphones only for setup.
  • Do not play music on the same phone while doing setup
  • Remember to re-connect Bluetooth after setup is complete

It is very important to enter the correct WiFi password in order to achieve connection. Please make sure that all characters are correct and remember that they are case sensitive. 

Test your dbell from app

  • Once setup is complete, test your dbell from app
  • Note: if dbell and your phone is close, there will be feedback/echo/noise. For test, your phone should be 3-4m/10-12ft away from dbell

4. dbell Installation

For permanent install Power up dbell HD Live & HDx2 doorbell in two different ways:

  • Provide Power from your pre-existing doorbell transformer. Make sure preexisting doorbell

    Transformer rating is 16V 10VA.

    A transformer with a higher VA rating or lower VA rating will not work. e.g., 40VA/30VA/20VA/8VA can’t be used. It must be 10VA.

  • or provide power using a 5VDC, 2A adapter – only works for short distance, max. 2m.
  • Warning! Turn off power at fuse or breaker before work
  • Remove current doorbell push button and disconnect cables
  • Insert 2 disconnected cables from doorbell into the dbell connectors. Pull them lightly to test they are securely connected.
  • Locate old indoorbell which used to ring before dbell.
  • Open the old indoorbell’s cover by gently pulling outward.
  • Disconnect cable from terminal labelled “T” (Trans) and “F” (Front)
  • To join Trans & Front together you may use wire nuts, crimp or electrical tape.
  • Turn on power at the Fuse or Breaker panel
  • It will take approx. 1 min. for dbell to start operating.
 
Step Install
1

Remove current doorbell push button and disconnect cables

Make sure that your doorbell wiring is “low voltage”, if you are not sure, test with a meter or call an electrician

Insert the 2 low voltage wires into the 2 connectors.

Don’t worry about which wire goes to which connector.

Insert wire into the connector, push gently all the way

Warning! Do not pull or push too hard, connector will break.

Gently pull wires to test if it is properly connected

Place dbell on the bracket and tighten security screw

Do not over-tighten the security screws, just flush to bottom

Locate old indoorbell which used to ring before dbell.

Open the old indoorbell’s cover by gently pulling outward.

Disconnect cable from terminal labelled “T” (Trans) and “F” (Front)

To join Trans & Front together you may use wire nuts, crimp or electrical tape.

Put the cover back on pre-existing chime

Turn on power at the Fuse or Breaker panel

It will take approx. 1 min. for dbell to start operating.

5. Operation

  • Press the dbell call button.
  • The plugin doorbell rings and your phone announces a visitor.
  • A live stream from the camera is displayed on your phone. You can talk and listen to the caller from your phone.
  • If you have Android TV or amazon fireTV stick – you can view the visitor on your large screen TV too.

Congratulations – you have completed your dbell setup successfully!

 

  • Network setup

1. Network connection

  • Connect your dbell to a router/switch with a CAT5 patch cable. One side of CAT5 patch cable goes into RJ45 slot of the dbell and the other side goes into the router slot labeled “LAN”.

2. Power-up dbell:

  • Power-up dbell using supplied power adapter or
  • Using supplied USB to DC power cable. Connect the USB end of the power cable to your smartphone charger and DC end to the dbell.
  • After you power-up the dbell, it will take approximately a minute for the dbell to be ready for setup. Please wait for the “Welcome” sound to continue.
  • If your dbell has been connected to power for longer than 1 minute, you won’t hear any sound.

 

3. Download dbell app

Before launching app:

Whichever Network/Wifi your phone is connected to, that is the network your dbell needs to be connected via Network patch cable.

 

4. Launch dbell app

  • If dbell is connected to the Network, app will find your dbell camera for completing setup. OR
  • Select Scan Network and follow on-screen setup wizard, for support watch the setup video

 

Test your dbell from app

  • Once setup is complete, test your dbell from app
  • Note: if dbell and your phone is close, there will be feedback noise. For test, your phone should be 3-4m/10-12ft away from dbell
